Edit Automatic Captions in Panopto
- Go to https://umkc.hosted.panopto.com and log-in using your SSO.
- Locate the course folder associated with the video you want to caption. Open the folder by selecting it.
- On the left-hand side of your screen, your course recordings will appear. Hover over the title of the video you would like to caption. A contextual menu will appear including Settings, Share, Edit, Stats, and Delete.
- Select “Edit.” A new window will now open containing the Panopto Video Editor.
- On the left-hand side of your screen, you will see the editing menu. Select the “Captions” option to edit the video captions.
- The machine-generated captions for your Panopto video should now appear.
- Note: To the right of each caption, you will see it’s timestamp. This indicates the time that the caption will appear for the viewer.

- To edit a caption, click on the caption. Type in any changes you need to make.
- To edit a timestamp, hover over the caption and select the pencil icon that appears to the right.
- An Edit Caption pop-up will appear. Edit the timestamp under the Time heading.
- Select “Save” to save your timestamp changes.
- To save your changes, select “Publish” in the top, right-hand corner of your screen.
