Hello and Goodbye: Changes to the UMKC Online Team
We welcome a new teammate and say goodbye to another.
Lauren Mathiott joins UMKC Online as our newest instructional technologist. Lauren previously worked at the University of Kansas Medical Center with the department of Teaching & Learning Technologies. While at KUMC, she supported faculty with Blackboard, Adobe Connect, and Second Life. Lauren holds a BS in Interactive Digital Media: New Media from Northwest Missouri State University and an MS in Educational Technology from the University of Central Missouri. She is passionate about online learning, ethics, and student engagement and is Quality Matters certified. Lauren is also involved Colleague to Colleague and serves on the steering committee for the Summer Institute of Distance Learning (SIDLIT) conference. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling and refinishing furniture.
It is with regret that we announce the departure of Instructional Designer Lara Mabry, who was a valued member of UMKC Online for the last two years. Lara resigned at the end of June to join her husband in London, England, where he was relocated in a new role. Many of you worked with Lara in the design of your online courses or on projects related to Blackboard Analytics and student authentication, and we are sure you join us in wishing her and her husband well on this new adventure. As a result of Lara’s departure, we have begun the hiring process for the vacant position, which we hope to have filled by the fall.
