The University of Missouri-Kansas City has begun transitioning from the Blackboard learning management system (LMS) to the Canvas LMS. A limited number of courses were included in Phase I of this transition. Faculty included in Phase I provided recommendations on how to improve UMKC’s transition to Canvas.
In fall 2018, UMKC entered Phase II of the transition. All courses will have a Canvas course site moving forward. Faculty can migrate Blackboard course content to Canvas in preparation for the semester. Those faculty wishing to teach in Blackboard for summer 2019 are required to request a Blackboard course site. A request form is available within the Blackboard Request System for this purpose.
Summer 2019 marks the final opportunity to transition to Canvas and the completion of Phase II. By fall 2019, all courses will be taught in Canvas and Blackboard will no longer be available.
